PRP Treatments Q & A
What is PRP?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) appears to be blood, but it’s actually a concentration of certain components in blood that promote healing and tissue regeneration. Specifically, PRP contains a base of plasma, which is the liquid in your blood.
Platelets, a type of cell within your blood, are the other main component of PRP. Platelets cause your blood to clot and are responsible for forming scabs and the rest of the healing process that occurs after you get an injury.
When injected, platelet-rich plasma is said to accelerate tissue repair and even help you grow new collagen fibers.
Where does the PRP in my treatment come from?
The PRP that Dr. South uses for your treatment comes from your body. When you arrive at Premier Wellness & Aesthetics Center, he draws a small amount of your blood and places it into a centrifuge. As the centrifuge spins, the different cell types and components form concentrated, separated layers within the vial.
Dr. South extracts the layer containing mostly platelets and places it into a syringe for your injections.
What does PRP do?
At Premier Wellness & Aesthetics Center, Dr. South offers several popular treatments that implement PRP to combat the effects of aging. Depending on your needs, you can get:
PRP for hair growth
For some patients, PRP injections help stimulate hair growth in balding areas. Dr. South injects PRP into your scalp. It triggers your natural hair growth by helping repair your hair follicles and supplying them with blood.
During a PRP facial, Dr. South injects PRP into areas of your face that are sagging, lacking volume, or show signs of aging. The PRP helps repair your tissues and stimulates new collagen, making your skin look firmer and younger.
During a PRP Facelift, Dr. South injects PRP and dermal fillers into areas of your face that are sagging or lacking volume or looking gray and dull due to aging. The PRP helps repair your tissues and stimulates new collagen, while the dermal fillers you give a noninvasive facelift effect, making your skin look firmer, younger, and slightly lifted.
PRP Breast Lift
A PRP Breast Lift involves strategically injecting PRP into your breasts to give them a fuller, firmer appearance with improved skin texture. The result is similar to what a push-up bra does to your breasts without the straps and cups.
PRP Priapus Shot
The Priapus Shot, better known as the P-Shot, is an injection of PRP for men to help revive their sex life by repairing the cells in their penis. After a numbing cream application, the shot isn’t painful. Just one shot helps you get and maintain firm erections on your own time and may increase sensitivity.
PRP G-spot Shot
The PRP G-spot Shot is a shot of PRP specifically for women. It is injected near your clitoris and in the Grafenberg spot, or G-spot, in your vagina. After the shot, you may experience heightened sexual pleasure, and you can get the shots periodically to maintain the results.
